I forgot my ZMT DataCloud username, what should I do?
The ZMT DataCloud accepts your ZMT username, your ZMT e-mail-address or - if you are a project partner - your specific DataCloud password. If you have a ZMT contract, your e-mail should be firstname.lastname@leibniz-zmt.de, or please contact the ZMT IT.
As an external user, your username is the e-mail-address. If it does not work, contact the Research Data Service via research-data@leibniz-zmt.de.
I forgot my ZMT DataCloud password, what should I do?
If you are an external user and you forgot your password, please write an e-mail to research-data@leibniz-zmt.de.
If you have a ZMT account, your password for the ZMT DataCloud matches your general ZMT password. If you forgot your ZMT password, please contact the ZMT IT.
Who can see, open, edit, save, download, delete my data?
Your data is stored safely in the project folder assigned to your project. The workgroup leader or deputee is responsible for deciding on who gets access to the project folder. All project partners with access are granted the same privileges, including the ability to view, edit, save, download, and delete data. In addition, the Research Data Service has access to your project folder to provide assistance with data management.
I accidentally deleted a file/folder. What can I do?
There is no need to worry about losing your data. The ZMT DataCloud has a reliable backup system in place, with backups stored at different intervals. Hourly backups are kept for 24 hours, daily backups are retained for a week, and monthly backups from the 1st of the month are kept for three months. If you have accidentally deleted any files and have not stored copies anywhere else, please reach out to research-data@leibniz-zmt.de and our team will assist in recovering your files.
What is informed consent and when do I need it in my research?
Informed consent is an important aspect of ethical research. It involves providing potential participants with all the information on purpose and procedure of your study. This way, the people in question have the ability to make an informed decision whether to participate. It helps to protect the participants’ rights, establish trust, and ensure the quality and validity of the research.
Which data should and should not be stored in the ZMT DataCloud?
The ZMT DataCloud should be used to store the research data, metadata and other documents relevant to your research project. It is not a storage for private data or for data from other research projects.
If you are unsure whether your data belongs into the ZMT DataCloud or elsewhere (e.g. if it contains sensitive personal data), contact us via research-data@leibniz-zmt.de, we will help you with the decision in your case.
What should I do if my data exceeds the provided storage size?
The default storage size of a project folder is 500 GB. In case your data exceeds the provided storage size, please check your folder content first: Do you have data that has no relation to the project? If yes, please move those files yourself to a different storage. Otherwise, if your data size requirements are bigger than the default storage allows, we can offer a larger storage amount of up to 5TB. If you need more storage space, you need to require external funding. contact us and we will get in touch to discuss your individual situation and suggest a solution.
How do I activate e-mail notifications to get informed on changes in my project folder?
You can decide yourself which notifications you want to get. When logged in the ZMT DataCloud, you will find the options in the upper right corner under Settings - General.
